Yoga
Every Wednesday 7:30-8:30 pm
Our yoga classes have begun and they are great. It is reasonably priced, we are lit solely by salt lamps and now that it is getting dark earlier and with our relaxing music, the atmosphere is pure Zen. There is still room available for the 10 week sessions. You have only missed 2 classes which can be made up at the end of the 10 weeks!  Dana is able to provide very indivualized attention so even though it is a small group the routine is still customized to fit your needs.  Just dress comfortably, bring a beach towel or a yoga mat. Feel free to come in early (no later than 6:45)  and get a head start by catching a complimentary 30 minute Migun treatment, on us. 

The last two sessions focused on a few very simple and relaxing stretches and how to breathe properly. In time, Dana promises we will all be breathing deeply from our core instinctively. It will help all of us better deal with stress and the hormones created by stress by properly oxygenating our bodies and breaking the habit of the shallow breathing that contributes to our feelings of fight or flight. Did you happen to catch SUNDAY MORNING on CBS this last weekend that included an entire segment on specialty salts featuring our favorite: 100% pure, pristine, Himalayan Salt?

So what's the big deal? Why should you be concerned about what type of salt you are using?

Over ninety percent (90%) of the world's supply of salt is used in industrial applications that require pure sodium chloride. The chloride component is actually chlorine. The excess is used as a preservative in the foods we eat and packaged for your salt shaker.
 Marketing efforts that are decades old have led us to believe that there is some sort of health advantage in adding iodine and fluoride to salt. Other chemicals are often found in table salt include calcium carbonate, magnesium carbonate and aluminum hydroxide, all added to ostensibly improve "pourability". Aluminum has been identified in some studies as a potential cause of Alzheimer's.
 Common table salt is void of the trace minerals that make Himalayan crystal salt so precious. Unlike sea salt that is exposed to pollutants, crystal salt matures over 250 million years far below the earth's surface and far from exposure to impurities.
